愛麗絲讀書分享主體內容是全英語設計，需要具備一定英語基礎，雖然有難度，但大家也不要自己嚇自己，有時候跳一跳就夠到了。為了幫助基礎略微薄弱的朋友起步，從今天開始，除了正文，我們還會不定期出番外篇，用中文解說閱讀難點。希望大家能多留言告訴我哪些地方是難點，需要精解的。我盡量滿足大家要求。
第一章
Presently she began again. 『I wonder if I shall fall right through the earth! How funny it』ll seem to come out among the people that walk with their heads downward! TheAntipathies, I think—』(she was rather glad there was no one listening, this time, as it didn』t sound at all the right word)
The Antipathies，是愛麗絲胡謅的地球對面國家人民的稱呼，類似Chinese或Japanese之類的。這個單詞由兩個字根組成的，anti-和-pathy。愛麗絲認為地球對面的人都是頭朝下的，所以她覺得如果給他們起個名字的話，應該是一anti-開頭的（anti打頭的很多單詞都是反的意思，比如antivirus, antisense、antiwar等）。可後面那個字根就不對了，-pathy這個字根通常表達感情或痛苦，比如sympathy, empathy就是以這個字跟結尾的，antipathy本意是反感，愛麗絲隨口說了個單詞，但感覺哪裡又不對。如果你不認識這個單詞也沒關係，從字根上觀察她肯定是搞錯了。
before her was another long passage, and the White Rabbit was still in sight, hurrying down it. There was not a moment to be lost: away went Alice like the wind, and was just in time to hear it say, as it turned a corner, 『Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it』s getting!』
人類吃驚或著急的時候會說：「Oh my God!」，或者中國人會說：」我的媽呀！「，作者覺著動物也會用身邊的東西賭咒發誓，比如兔子說我的耳朵和鬍子。
Oh, how I wish I couldshut up like atelescope! I think I could, if I only knew how to begin.』
望遠鏡會伸縮、會摺疊，愛麗絲希望自己能像望遠鏡那樣可以收起來變小。大人們知道人跟機器不一樣的地方，不過孩子們什麼都敢想。
有些人可能會覺得如今shut up很少這麼用，我特地查了下字典，的確各種大詞典里沒有類似文章中的意思。只是，通過上下文，我們已經能不費力地理解這個短語的意思了是嗎？所以，我們閱讀的時候不要被太多不理解的內容嚇到，不同時代、不同國家的著作，總有一些東西你不知道的，或者作者自己發明的。這些單詞短語，你在文章中找信息，你可以結合上下文猜，你可以問，實在抑制不住好奇心就去查。把看書當成一次探險，或者是破案，書會領著你找到大多數答案的。
It was all very well to say 『Drink me,』 but the wise little Alice was not going to do that in a hurry. 『No, I』ll look first,』 she said, 『and see whether it』s marked 「poison」 or not』; for she had read several nice little histories about children who had got burnt, and eaten up by wild beasts and other unpleasant things,all because they would not remember the simple rules their friends had taught them: such as, that a red-hot poker will burn you if you hold it too long; and that if you cut your finger very deeply with a knife, it usually bleeds; and she had never forgotten that, if you drink much from a bottle marked 『poison,』 it is almost certain to disagree with you, sooner or later.
「all because they would not remember the simple rules「這話特別容易讓我們想起父母經常跟孩子念叨的內容，而且普天下嚇孩子的方式好像也很類似哦，就是被不同的怪物吃掉了。接下來作者用冷靜的描述語氣帶你腦補出各種荒誕畫面，這也許就是冷笑話的精華所在，後面我們還會遇到很多處冷笑話，經常會讓你冷不防地噗哧出來。
she felt a little nervous about this; 『forit might end, you know,』 said Alice to herself, 『in my going out altogether, like a candle. I wonder what I should be like then?』And she tried to fancy what the flame of a candle is like after the candle is blown out, for she could not remember ever having seen such a thing.
愛麗絲不斷變小，她怕自己像只蠟燭一下燒完了（going out altogether）。I haven』t seen such a thing這樣的句子通常用在荒誕的事情上極具戲劇效果，你可以嘗試把such a thing多讀幾遍，加上滑稽的語調。這一類有很多變形，比如I』ve never done such a thing. I』ve never seen such a man.類似的句子可用的地方很多。
『Come, there』s no use in crying like that!』said Alice to herself, rather sharply; 『I advise you to leave off this minute!』She generally gave herself very good advice, (though she very seldom followed it), and sometimes she scolded herself so severely as to bring tears into her eyes; and once she remembered trying to box her own ears for having cheated herself in a game of croquet she was playing against herself, for this curious child was very fond of pretending to be two people. 『But it』s no use now, thought poor Alice, 『to pretend to be two people! Why,there』s hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!』
愛麗絲因為縮得非常小，覺得離一個像樣兒的人都差好遠，別說扮成兩個人。Hardly enough of me left，hardly enough有類似雙重否定的效果，嘗試跟little of me left做比較，體會裡面的幽默感覺。One respectable person，地位跟實際身體尺寸的雙關，也能體現出幽默效果。
She ate a little bit, and said anxiously to herself, 『Which way? Which way?』, holding her hand on the top of her head to feel which way it was growing, and she was quite surprised to find that she remained the same size:to be sure, this generally happens when one eats cake, but Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.
這裡的變態就是常態，而常態就是變態，所以沒有事情發生反而是變態了。expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen，nothing but這樣的用法是很英語化的，有興趣可以多仿照著寫寫，一般都具備喜感。
前面對於第一章里的第二題，很多老師回答愛麗絲不奇怪因為見了太多奇怪的事情所以見怪不怪了。那這一句就是對前面的點睛之筆，作者用非常含蓄幽默的語言向我們展示了如何用英語來表達這個意思，值得我們去細細品味的呢！希望老師們多多參與互動，不用擔心辭彙量問題，有些東西是可以細講細品，通過這樣的方法來幫助英語的本質提升。
