Honestly it"s something EVEN to Jordan. That"s like 0.5% of his net worth in ONE go.

It won"t have any affect on his lifestyle, but that"d be something like, a guy bringing home 30k a year with a net worth of 200k giving away 1,000 dollars in a day. Something most wouldn"t do.

For a guy who is infamous for things like not tipping and gambling away millions... it"s a very, very good deed.

seriously, this subreddit seems to have zero understanding of money. that"s a $7M donation. he could"ve invested that $7M and made $1M off of it. instead of having $8M he has $0 of it, because he chose to do something for others with it instead of increasing his own personal worth.

Even if its a PR move, it"s still helpful.

Don"t Magic Johnson, Kareem, Steph, David Robinson, and Tim Duncan (and others I"m sure) kinda belie that notion? Being the uber competitive asshole is one way to go about things, and it might be the best way to monetize your success (see also Kobe Bryant), but it"s definitely not the only way.

The only rebuttal I』ve seen for not needing to be an asshole to be the GOAT is Wayne Gretzky, but in fairness I think he actually might be the exception rather than the rule. Sure there are a lot of great players who are also not assholes, but there are few GOATS who match that description.

I get the feeling that the "MJ doesn"t tip" thing happened a few times and has just gotten blown out of proportion as rumors do in the online world.

If the servers do a bad job, some people wont tip, MJ is probably one of those people. He probably has servers bugging him for autographs or treating him different all the time.

Plus think of how sensitive waiters are on the whole tip thing. I"ve got a bunch of friends who wait/have been a waiter at some point, and they"ll still bitch about a poor tip weeks after the fact. Waiters have a pretty easy job, and still always complain about tips while thinking they should be making 25/hour.

我覺得「MJ不付小費」這檔子事可能確實發生了幾次，但人們有點刻意把它擴大化了搞得像喬丹每次都不付小費一樣，跟現在互聯網世界傳播謠言的原理有點像。

Nope, other back kitchen jobs though back in the day so I"ve been around waiters enough to know their role is pretty simple (as is bussing, dish washing, and other non cooking roles).

Waiters at nice restaurants make pretty good money for the work they do and still will complain for days about one bad tip, usually without any reflection on what they might have messed up on to get the bad tip.
