家裡一定要打掃乾淨，一定要保持整潔。家不像個家，一點也不規整，亂糟糟的，也會讓別人起煩惱。諸法的本性是不垢不凈的，我們看著髒亂，這就是我們的業障煩惱。我們擦灰塵，就是擦業障、擦煩惱，這是一種修行。我們把家收拾整齊了，心裡也就整齊了。通過這些方法，煩惱、習氣、業障自然而然就消凈了。

Homes should be cleaned and kept tidy. An untidy house will upset others. The nature of all Dharma is neither dirty nor clean. It』s because of our karmic obscuration that we see a messy house. Wiping out dust in fact is wiping out our bad karma and affliction, which is a kind of practice. With a house cleaned, comes a mind cleaned. In this way, our afflictions, bad habits and karma will be wiped out naturally.

佛在世的時候，有位比丘非常愚笨，教什麼都學不會，一個字也記不住。最後佛讓他掃地，並且掃地的時候心裡觀想：我打掃的不是灰塵，而是我的業障，我的煩惱。他非常虔誠，對佛說的話心裡沒有絲毫懷疑。就這樣，他每天掃地的時候心裡都不斷地這樣想，最後他清除了自己所有的業障與煩惱，證得了阿羅漢的果位。

When the Buddha was living in the world, there was a dumpish monk, who could remember none of what had been taught. At last, the Buddha told him to sweep the floor and reflect at the same time: what I was sweeping was not dust, but my karmic obscuration and affliction instead. He was so faithful that he didn』t doubt even a word said by the Buddha. Thus, every time he swept, he kept on thinking as being told. Eventually, he got rid of all his karma and afflictions, and obtained the state of full attainment of Arhatship.

這也是一種消業積福，開悟證悟的方法，我們為什麼不學、不用呢？這些灰塵，不幹凈的東西都是我們的煩惱業障、分別執著。我們把這些都擦掉，把家裡打掃乾淨的同時，我們的心地也會越來越清凈，自在。這都是佛教給我們的佛法，但是聽起來容易做起來難。你不願意消除業障嗎？你不願意遣除障礙嗎？如果願意，為什麼不這樣做呢？還是對佛法沒有具足的信心。

It』s also a way to remove karmic obscuration and accumulate merits, and a way to get enlightenment. So why not learn and perform it? All this dust is our affliction, discrimination and attachment. With our house becoming cleaner, our mind will become purer and more unimpeded. That』s all Dharma from Buddha, but it』s easier said than done. Wouldn』t you like to eliminate karmic obscurations? Wouldn』t you like to remove barriers? If so, why not perform like that? The reason is the lack of complete faith.

自己的家就是凈土，就是佛國，我們把它打掃得乾淨整潔，就是莊嚴佛凈土，這就是發心動機，轉念消業。能夠轉心，才能消除業障；能夠轉心，才能降伏煩惱。這是一種善巧方便，最直接、最殊勝的方法。我們天天打掃衛生，為什麼不這樣發心呢？還是沒有智慧！

One』s own home is just the Pure Land or the Buddha』s land. Cleaning the home is to dignify the pure land of Buddhas, which is a kind of aspiration. Transforming mind leads to eliminating karmic obscuration. Only by transforming mind, can karmic obscuration be eliminated and can affliction be subdued. This is a kind of expedience, the most direct and extraordinary means. We do cleaning every day, but why can』t we arouse such intention? The reason is still the lack of wisdom.

如果有智慧，你就會知道，所有的一切都是修行。行住坐卧都是修行的過程，吃喝玩樂都是修持的方法，沒有什麼難的。沒有智慧就難，心裡總有矛盾、衝突與障礙。心不正，不會有正事；心不凈，不會有清凈。把心修好了，一切都會好。身體能健康，家庭能和睦，工作能順利，一切一切都會吉祥圓滿。我們這樣學佛修行，才能解脫，才能成就。

With wisdom, you will know that all is practicing. Walking, standing, sitting and lying down are all the process of practicing; eating, drinking, playing and enjoying are all the methods of practicing. There is nothing difficult. The only difficulty lies in the lack of wisdom, without which one will always suffer the contradiction, conflict and barriers in mind. Without justice in mind, nothing will be righteous; without peace in mind, nowhere will be pure. Improve your mind, and all will be fine. You will become healthy, your family will be harmonious, your work will turn smooth, and everything will become auspicious and perfect. Only by learning Dharma in this way, can we get liberation and accomplishment.
