All of those dunks he did could easily be pulled off by the elite athletes in today"s NBA. People treat it like the greatest thing that ever happened and I don"t get it

It"s not just one of those things that is marvelous in retrospect, either. I remember literally falling on the ground after his first dunk. Like, my mind couldn"t comprehend what I had just seen so it just short circuited and my whole body collapsed.

But back then it was incredible to watch

The way that he threw that 360 Windmill down... It was perfect. Couldn"t have done it better. Look at the Paul George one for contrast. Nowhere near as nice.

No, it wasn"t overrated. The dunk contest had been stagnant for a number of years. Dunking had reached a plateau, and there wasn"t anything really that new coming out. Heck, there wasn"t even a dunk contest in 1998 or 1999.

In 2000, Vince"s dunks were revolutionary. He was a nightly highlight. NIGHTLY. There wasn"t a game when Vince didn"t throw down something incredible.. I think there was so much hype and so many expectations on his, and he absolutely delivered.

Yes, some players may be able to reproduce some of those dunks he did.

But, when VC did it, it revolutionized dunking due to how unique they were at the time.

What do you even mean? Vince was doing 360 from a standing position iirc. He was high enough to put his elbow in the rim. Not to mention, his flair was unmatched, talk about putting on a show.

No. He single handedly brought back the dunk competition after it was gone for two years do to poor performances . Idk your age, but if you weren"t able to watch basketball in the late 90"s, he was the most dynamic and must see player due mostly because of his hops and the dunk competition was put back simply because so many people wanted to see him perform.
