How Does Samsara Form?

佛在經中講，輪迴的形成有遠因，有近因。遠因是貪嗔痴三毒，尤其是由無明引起的貪心和嗔恨心；近因是業。《中觀寶鬘論》云：「貪嗔痴及彼，所生業不善，無有貪嗔痴，及彼生業善。」有貪嗔痴引起不善業，沒有貪嗔痴引起善業。一般的善業形成了人道、阿修羅道、天道三善道；惡業形成了地獄道、餓鬼道、旁生道三惡道。這些總集在一起叫六道，輪迴就是這樣形成的。

Buddha said in the sutra that samsara is formed with remote causes and proximate causes. Remote causes are greed, hatred and ignorance, particularly the greed and hatred caused by ignorance. The proximate cause is karma. It is said in 「Precious Garland of the Middle Way」 that greed, hatred and ignorance and every action caused by those, that make negative karma; if there is no greed, hatred and ignorance and every action caused by those, it makes positive karma. Usually, positive actions form Human Realm, Asura Realm, and Heaven Realm. And negative actions form Hell Realm, Hungry Ghost Realm and Animal Realms. Totally, those are six realms, and samsara is formed in that way.

輪迴不是無因無緣形成的，也不是由一個恆常不變、獨一無二的造物主創造的，輪迴是以眾生自己的業力而顯現的。眾生因往昔所造的業陷進了六道輪迴里，由業力牽引不自由地流轉。

Samsara』s cycle is not formed with no reason, and it is not created by a constant, unchanged, unique creator either. Samsara is revealed by your own karma. All beings fall into the six realms samsara due to the karma created by their own and reincarnate in it involuntarily.

猶如被關在瓶子里的蜜蜂，飛到瓶子上面的空間，就好比我們以自己修的有漏的善業而投生到三善道；蜜蜂飛到瓶子下面的空間，就好比我們因造下的惡業而墮入三惡道。蜜蜂無論是飛到瓶子的上面，還是飛到瓶子的下面，始終飛不出瓶子，就好比我們無論生於善趣還是墮入惡趣，都逃不出六道，離不開輪迴一樣。六道眾生就這樣以有漏的善業和惡業為因，連續不斷地投生流轉，這叫輪迴。

Like a bee imprisoned in the bottle, when it flies to the space above, it』s just like our own positive actions drive us to the three higher realms. And when the bee flies to the space below in the bottle, just like our own negative actions drive us to the lower three realms. The bee could not fly out of the bottle whether flying up or down, just like we cannot escape from the six realms no matter what realm we are in. All beings in different realms reincarnate constantly because of imperfect positive actions or negative actions. It is called samsara.
