詩意般的孤獨 Poetic solitude

在佛教的經典中，對人類的起源有如下闡釋：最早的人類是從天界下凡而來，他們身心純潔，大地長滿了甜美碩大的香稻。直到有一天，有人生起了貪婪的惡念，把採集的香稻私藏起來，還築起籬笆，划出領地。人們於是紛紛效尤，肆意爭奪土地，佔為己有。

Buddhist scriptures interpret human origins as follows: the first humans came from heaven down to earth, pure in body and mind, and the earth was covered with sweet, fragrant rice. Until one day, some people, with evil thoughts of craving arising in their minds, kept for themselves the fragrant rice they collected, and also built fences and marked their territories. So other people followed suit and wantonly seized lands for their own possession.

結果，香稻在人間銷聲匿跡，土地也日益貧瘠。備受貪瞋痴困擾的人們不得不付出艱苦的勞作才能維持生計。等到千萬年之後，當人們摒棄惡行、誠心改過，大地將重新恢復以往的富庶。

As a result, fragrant rice in this world disappeared, and barren land increased. So humans now plagued by greed, hatred and ignorance, have to work hard to maintain their livelihoods. The earth will not regain its original abundance until people can abandon evil and sincerely rehabilitate themselves over tens of millions of years. This story enlightens us: the earth and we humans share a common destiny, sharing weal and woe. If we disregard the earth, we will cut off our own foundation.

這個故事啟示人們：人類與地球乃是休戚與共的命運共同體，一損俱損，一榮俱榮。人類不可能脫離地球獨自在太空中享受詩意般的孤獨。

This hard truth once again sounds the alarm to conceited humanity: we human beings cannot separate ourselves from the earth to enjoy poetic solitude in space alone.
