白羊座的由來

白羊座學名：Aries

[Arthurian] A cowherd who raised Tor, son of King Pellinore, whom he believed to be his own child. He later became a Knight of the Round Table. Aries is probably the only character in the entire Arthurian saga who was of humble origin.

黃道十二星座之首。

中心位置：赤經2時40分，赤緯21度。在雙魚和金牛兩座之間。α、β、γ（婁宿三、一、二）在仙女座γ星以南約20度。α星為2等星，和仙女座β、γ兩星形成等腰三角形。座內有高於4等的星5顆。白羊宮 黃道十二宮的第一宮，黃經從0度到30度，原居白羊座，故名。但由於歲差，現已移至雙魚座。每年3月21日前後太陽到這一宮，那時的節氣是春分，所以春分點又叫「白羊宮第一點」。

傳說一

在一個古老的遙遠國度中，國王和皇后因性格不和而離婚，並再取了另一名女子，可惜這位新皇后天生善於嫉妒，無法忍受國王對前妻所留下的一雙子女的百般疼愛，於是邪惡的陰謀逐漸在她腦中成形。 春天來臨，又到了播種耕種的季節，新皇后將炒熟了的麥子，發送給全國不知情的農夫。已經熟透了的麥子，無論怎樣澆水、施肥，當然都無法發出芽來。被蒙在鼓裡的農夫，百思不得其解。新皇后就在此時，散播有關麥子的謠言，指稱麥子之所以無法發芽，是因為這個國家受到了詛咒，而受到詛咒全都是因為王子和公主的邪惡念頭，引起了天怒，導致天神對國家的處罰。 個性淳樸的農民們一聽，天啊！這還得了！因為邪惡的王子和公主，全國的人民都將陷於貧窮飢餓的深淵中，這是一件多麼可怕的事啊！很快地，全國各地不論男女、老少，都一致要求國王一定要將王子與公主處死，國家才能解開這個詛咒，平息天怒，人民的幸苦耕種才會有收穫，國家也才能回復過去的安定富足。

國王雖心有不舍，但為了平息眾怒，只好無奈地答應了人們的要求，準備將公主與王子處死，以換得人民的信任。這個消息傳到了王子公主的生母耳中，當然是又驚又怕，趕緊向偉大的天神——宙斯求助。宙斯當然知道是皇后搞的鬼，於是就答應幫忙。在行刑的當天，天空突然出現一支有著金色長毛的公羊，將王子兄妹救走，就在飛行以過大海的途中，這支公羊一個不小心，讓妹妹摔下海中死掉了。後來宙斯為了獎勵這支勇敢但又有些粗心的公羊，就將他高掛在天上，也就是今天大家所熟知的白羊座。

傳說二

傳說特沙里亞罷黜皇后妮菲蕾，另娶伊娜為妃。伊娜虐待前妻的子女，視他們為眼中釘，必欲除之而後快。妮菲蕾獲知後，向天神借了一對金色的白羊，要救兩兄妹出苦海。但在逃亡過程中，妹妹歷受海濤聲的驚嚇，不慎墜入海中溺死。最後，白羊因救人的善行，被宇宙之神宙斯放置在天上，成為白羊星座。

傳說三

菲利塞思(phrixus)是奈波勒(nepele)之子，因蒙上姦汙彼阿蒂斯(biadice)的不白之冤而被判處死刑。臨刑之前，一直金色的公羊及時將他和妹妹海勒(helle)一起背走。不幸的是，妹妹因不勝顛簸而一時眼花落下羊背，菲利塞思則安然獲救。他將公羊獻給宙斯當祭禮，宙斯將它的形象化為天上的星座。後來伊阿宋為了奪走這金羊的羊毛，還展開了一段精彩的冒險故事。白羊座也被稱作「牧羊座」。
