難道橋也會嘆息

BridgeofSighsinCambridgeisacoveredbridgebelongingtoStJohn』sCollegeofCambridgeUniversity.Itwasbuiltin1831andcrossestheRiver.Cambetweenthecollege』sThirdCourtandNewCourt.ThearchitectwasHenryHutchinson.

劍橋大學的嘆息橋是一座封閉的橋，隸屬於劍橋大學聖約翰學院。這座橋建於1831年，橫跨劍河,連接聖約翰學院的第三庭院和新庭院。該橋的設計師是亨利·哈欽森。

BridgeofSighsisdividedintothreelayers：theupperlayer,themiddlelayer,andthelowerlayer.Thelowerlayeristhehalf-ovalarch,andthemiddlelayerisapassage,alsocalled「thegallery」，Differfromothergalleries,thefloorofthegalleryisnotstraight,butarched,whichmeansthewalkers-byhavetocrossthebridgeontheslope.Thewholebridgeisinlightyellow.

嘆息橋被分成三層：頂層、中層和底層。它的底層是一個半橢圓形的橋拱，中層是一個通道，也叫做「長廊」。與其他的長廊不同的是，長廊的通道不是平直的，而是拱形的，意味著路人過橋要上下坡。整座橋是淺黃色的。

新庭院的建立使得它和第三庭院之間必須要有第二條通道過河，所以人們才修建了嘆息橋。而新庭院的建築師也抓住這個機會修橋，他想把橋建得更迷人，並讓這座橋散發神秘的氣息。今天這座橋是通往聖約翰學院的主要通道，生活和工作在那裡。

Ontwoseparateoccasions,studentshavepulledtheprankofdanglingacarunderthebridge.Inthefirstincident,a1928Austin7waspunteddowntheriverusingfourpuntsthathadbeenlashedtogether,andthenhoistedupunderthebridgeusingropes.Inthesecondincident,aReliantRegalthree-wheelercarwasdangledunderthebridge.Inneithercasewasthebridgedamaged.

學生們把車懸吊在橋底，在不同的時段玩起了相似的惡作劇。在第一次惡作劇中，一輛1928年生產的奧斯汀車被托在四艘連在一起的方頭平底船上，然後學生們再用繩索把船吊到橋底。在第二次惡作劇中，一輛「羅賓」牌三輪車被吊到了橋底下。兩次惡作劇都沒有對橋造成損害。

NowthebridgeisoneofCambridge』smaintouristattractionsandQueenVictoriaissaidtohaveloveditmorethananyotherspotsinthecity.

現在嘆息橋是劍橋市主要的旅遊景點之一。據說在劍橋市的所有景點中，維多利亞女王最喜歡的就是嘆息橋。

Interestingly,thereisalsoabridgecalledbridgeofsighsintheUniversityofOxford,becauseofitssimilaritytothefamousBridgeofSighsinVenice.ThebridgewasoriginallynamedasHertfordBridge,becauseitlocatedinHertfordCollege.

有意思的是，在牛津大學也有一座橋叫做嘆息橋，名字的來源也是因為它和著名的威尼斯嘆息橋有相似之處。牛津的嘆息橋起初叫做赫特福德橋，因為它位於赫特福德學院。

AndHertfordBridgeisneverintendedtobeareplicaoftheVenetianbridge,andindeeditbearsacloserresemblancetotheRialtoBridgeinthesamecity.

赫特福德橋並不想成為威尼斯嘆息橋的複製品，事實上，它和位於威尼斯的里亞托橋更相似。

還有一個錯誤的傳說認為是幾十年前，牛津大學進行了一次學生健康狀況調查, 鑒於赫特福德學院的學生是全校學生中體重最重的，赫特福德學院就把橋的通道關上，迫使學生們走樓梯，讓他們多運動。的人們每天都從那走過。
