樹欲靜而風不止

子欲養而親不待

A tree wants peace,

But the wind won』t cease.

A son wants to repay,

But his parents won』t stay.

花間一壺酒，獨酌無相親。

舉杯邀明月，對影成三人。

With a jug of wine among flowers,

Alone I drink,

unaccompanied by anyone I know.

I raise my cup to invite the bright moon:

Including my shadow,a party of three I throw.

鳳凰台上鳳凰游，鳳去台空江自流。

三山半落青天外，二水中分白鷺洲。

Hhoenixes once roamed

on the Phoenix Terrace ground.

They』re gone:the Terrace』s empty,

the river keeps rolling on unbound.

The three peaks

rise halfway into the blue sky;

The two rivers

split where the Egret Isle is found.

人生得意須盡歡，莫使金樽空對月。

天生我材必有用，千金散盡還復來。

Make merry to the full

when life』s wishes are granted;

Under the moon,

gold jugs unattended one mustn』t leave.

I』m endowed with talents

that must be put to use;

A thousand pieces of gold squandered-

but return they would,the whole lot.

多歧路，今安在？

長風破浪會有時，直掛雲帆濟滄海。

Difficult is the way!

Difficult is the way!

Too many crossroads:

Now where can my way be?

Ripe will be the time to ride out

The turbulent winds and waves,

When I』ll hoist the sail straight into the clouds

And cross the boundless sea.

桃花流水窅然去，

別有天地非人間。

Peach blossoms flow with running water

Into the unknown:

I』m in another world,

Not the world of mankind.

抽刀斷水水更流，舉杯銷愁愁更愁。

人生在世不稱意，明朝散發弄扁舟。

Draw a knife and cut the water-

The water would nevertheless flow;

Raise a cup to dispel you woe-

woe comes after woe.

My life in this world

Matches not my aspirations:

Tomorrow morning,

With loosened hair,a little boat I』ll row.

晴川歷歷漢陽樹，芳草萋萋鸚鵡洲。

日暮鄉關何處是，煙波江上使人愁。

So vivid are the Yangtze and

The trees of Hanyang in the sun;

So lush the sweet grass in the Parrots Domain.

Where』s my hometown,now dusk is near?

On this misty river,sorrows reign.

映階碧草自春色，隔葉黃鸝空好音。

出師未捷身先死，長使英雄淚滿襟。

Gleaming on the steps,the emerald grass

displays the colours of spring unnoticed;

Behind the leaves,the sweet songs of orioles

add not to the lustre.

How sad you died before the battle was won:

Heroes shed tears on their armour ever after!

風急天高猿嘯衷，渚清沙白鳥飛回。

無邊落木蕭蕭下，不盡長江滾滾來。

Sharp is the wind under a high sky

Amid the gibbon』s howls of woe;

Pure is the islet and its white sand

With birds flying above to and fro.

Boundless is the forest

Where leaves rustle and fall;

Endless is the Yangtze that comes

Rolling down with its powerful flow.

造化鍾神秀，陰陽割昏曉。

會當凌絕頂，一覽眾山小。

Nature created this divine grandeur:

Between its north and south,

Darkness and light are divided neat.

One day I』ll make it to the summit:

All mountains will look small under my feet.

勸君莫惜金縷衣，勸君莫惜少年時。

花開堪折直須折，莫待無花空折枝。

I urge you,

Cherish not the gold-threaded gown;

Cherish instead the days while you』re young.

When flowers are in bloom,

pick them while you may;

Wait not,lest no flowers

but only bard twigs can be found.

朱雀橋邊野草花，烏衣巷口夕陽斜。

舊時王謝堂前燕，飛入尋常百姓家。

Beside the Red Bird Bridge,

weeds and wild flowers overgrown;

At the entrance of Black Coat Lane,

the setting sun shone.

Swallows that once nested

before the halls of Wang and Xie,

Into ordinary people』s homes had flown.
