據《時代》雜誌報道，哈佛大學會開一門「The Real Game of Thrones: From Modern Myths to Medieval Models（真實的權力的遊戲：從現代神話到中世紀模型）」的課程，課程中會用《權力的遊戲》小說及改編電視劇為範例，向學生們講解真實的中世紀。

哈佛不是第一個更不是唯一一個以《權力的遊戲》為名來開課的學校。

事實上，2015年，加州大學伯克利分校就開了好幾門與此有關的課程，比如說跟電影研究有關的「Film Genre:Game of Thrones（電影類型：權力的遊戲）」課程，今年夏天，還會再開一節6周的課程叫做「The Linguistics of Game of Thrones and the Art of Language Invention（《權力的遊戲》語言學及語言創作的藝術）」。
