屈朗的獵犬（Ⅰ）

Midway through chieftain Sualtim s wedding day, his beautiful young bride Dechtire mysteriously disappeared. Sualtim s advisors sought her high and low, but to no avail. It was as if she had vanished into thin air. At first, Sualtim was furious. It had not been an easy job persuading King Conor of Ulster to let him marry his sister. But finally he had won the hand of the fairest woman in the land and secured an alliance with the most powerful ruler in all of Erin.

在酋長Sualtim的婚禮當天，他美麗的新娘Dechtire突然神秘地失蹤了。Sualtim的部下找了又找也沒有找到她的蹤跡，就好像憑空消失了一樣。最初，Sualtim憤怒極了，他花了很長時間才說服阿爾斯特的國王Conor讓自己迎娶他的妹妹，但最終他還是得到了和世界上最美麗的女人喜結良緣的機會，同時也穩固了和愛爾蘭所有手掌大權的統治者的聯盟。

Now, it seemed that Dechtire had run away, ruining not just his romance but also his political plans. However, Amergin the wise Druid advised Sualtim not to be too hasty. Amergin could sense ancient magic in the air... and what could humans do against the will of the almighty gods?

可是現在，Dechtire逃婚了，不僅毀了他的愛情，更破裂了他的政治計劃。即使這樣，明智的祭司Amergin告訴Sualtim不要操之過急，因為他已經感受到了瀰漫在空氣中的古老法術的力量...人類又怎麼能和萬能的神所抗衡呢？

So Sualtim waited patiently and a whole year passed by untill, one day, Dechtire came walking out of the forest, carrying a baby in her arms. She told Sualtim an amazing story... the heroic god Lugh swooped down on the day of her marriage to Sualtim and whisked her off to the Land of Fairy. Lugh was also the father of the child that she held so tenderly in her arms.

於是Sualtim耐心地等待了整整一年，有一天，Dechtire從一片森林中走了出來，懷裡抱著一個嬰兒。她給Sualtim講了一個令人瞠目結舌的故事...英勇之神Lugh在他們婚禮當天從天而降將她帶到了神域，Lugh也是她懷中孩子的父親。

Sualtim was in a quandary. If Dechtire had borne a child by another mortal, he would have hunted the man down, slashed off his head, and paraded it for all to see. However, as Amergin pointed out, Sualtim had been paid a great honor by the gods. So, from the moment Sualtim laid eyes on the child, he thought of him as his own and brought him up as his rightful heir.

Sualtim感到左右為難，如果Dechtire是與一個凡人有了一個孩子，那他一定會逮到那個人然後砍下他的頭，然後把他的首級遊街示眾。但是，Amergin卻指出這是神靈賜予他的榮耀。於是，從那時起，Sualtim決定把這個孩子視如己出，並視其為自己的合法繼承人。

Many thought that Sualtim was foolish for believing Dechtire s wild tale. But as time went on, even the most hardened sceptics began to think that perhaps her story was true.

很多人都覺得Sualtim非常愚蠢，居然相信Dechtire的鬼話。但隨著時間的流逝，哪怕是當初質疑聲最大的那些人都開始相信Dechtire的故事有可能是真的了。
