The Chinese leadership have identified artificial intelligence as a key investment focus to fuel economic growth as the country adjusts to the 『new normal』. Thus, the Chinese government has committed to growing a $15bn AI market by 2020. This growth will be fuelled by one key factor, human talent.

中國正在調整自身、以適應新的經濟形勢，高層領導已經將人工智慧（AI）確定為一個重點投資領域，希望以此來推動經濟增長。因此，中國政府承諾，截至到2020年，中國的人工智慧市場將達到150億美元的規模。AI市場規模的增長離不開一個催化因素：人才。

The UK AI markethas enjoyed rapid growth in demand, supply and investment since 2010. In December 2016, the UK had a record 226 companies across all stages of development, with 2015 seeing the largest number of new AI start-up entrants in the market, numbering at 49. Expanded globally, there is an increasing investment focus within the AI landscape.

This Summit will be a form of focused Market Entry to both the Chinese and British market. For the Chinese attendees, opportunities to network with British software developers and distributors will ensure that they meet high quality international AI talent as well as commercial linkages to increase British/European sales.

The Summit will be the only platform dedicated to wedding British and Chinese AI technology with the demand of both economies. Potentials for a future sister event in Shenzhen are alsobeing explored.

Belt and Road: Smart Technologies

The Belt & Road initiative is set to evolve into a smart highway carrying not just goods, but information, knowledge, and services across Eurasia. Smart technologies, fuelled by AI, will be present across this trade network in all its forms. Thes cale and scope of this initiative will demand new technologies to ensure its continued operation and maintainability. These technologies represent a key access point for the UK in this $1trn initiative. The panel discussion will explore these access points, and the role the UK will play in the largest infrastructure project in human history.
