If they"re including where you can only pick top-3 every other year, it slows down tanking for the worst record since you don"t want to bottom out your team and end up with crappy picks (look at Orlando).

It will absolutely cause teams from 6-8th worst record tank, but they already do that and I don"t think there"s anything the League can do about it.

The way I see it, nothing changes. Teams will still tank to get to the bottom three - but it"s not like they"ll suddenly stop tanking once they get to that spot, they still need to tank harder than the 4th worst team to keep their odds of landing the top pick.

This is completely ignoring what tanking actually is, which isn"t players choosing to lose (which means they can suddenly choose not to lose). It"s teams building cheap rosters that are meant to lose for that season or for the next few seasons. Tanking for the bottom three slots instead of the bottom slot alone isn"t going to change the mechanics of this.

So, in my opinion, nothing changes and the lottery is still stupid.

See, the problem with that is then the Kings fans get screwed. One of the more exciting things for fans of bad teams is to watch them play against the superstars of the league. This goes double for road games for superstars, as opposing fans are often paying a premium to see them play in person.
