A lot of people in this sub are probably too young to remember seeing Ben play. But my god, he was one of the strongest players I"ve seen since Malone. He was an absolute ball hawk in the paint, whether it was blocking a shot or grabbing a board. If developed as much as a mediocre jump shot he could have gone down as an all-time great.
Also, that Pistons team was just a ton of fun. Rip, Chauncey, Wallaces, and Tayshaun. Not the best players but they were gelling.

I remember him. Of all of the Finals my Spurs were in, the Pistons were probably the team that was the closest to a mirror of the Spurs. That 7-game finals series was incredible to watch even though it had low ratings because apparently people just want to watch finals that feature teams that are offensive power houses.

I think people tend to underestimate rebounding/blocking. A lot of people think it"s just to do with size/athleticism, but it requires as much instinct and timing as making a great assist.

He was also insane in the playoffs. He basically made it every year, and had some insane playoff runs. You have to take this into consideration.

Reggie wasn"t in on the first year of voting. Wallace has only been eligible once.
Sidney Moncrief, Chris Webber and Tim Hardaway were announced as finalists last year, Ben Wallace was not, but none of them made it. So going by the voting, those three will likely get in ahead of Wallace.
Also, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Ray Allen, and Grant Hill are among those newly eligible this year.

Also, when Reggie retired he was 3rd all-time in terms of games played with the same team (behind Stockton and Malone with the Jazz). Reggie was an all-time basketball player who was never able to reach the summit, but definitely deserves a Hall of Fame spot
