貼春聯、剪窗花、準備年夜飯、發紅包，這些春節傳統習俗用英語咋說咧？

貼春聯

Spring couplets ["k?pl?t]  are paired phrases, typically seven Chinese characters each, written on red paper in black ink, and pasted on each side of a door frame. Sometimes a phrase of four or five characters is affixed to the top of the door frame as well.

春聯是對仗工整的文字，通常一聯七字，由黑墨筆寫在紅紙上，然後貼在門框兩側。有時，四五字的橫批也會貼在門框頂端。

In the past, people pasted paper cutouts on windows facing south and north before the Spring Festival. Paper cutouts are colored lucky red, with beautiful and exaggerated patterns. They express hopes of a merry and prosperous life, in line with the Spring Festival theme.

過去，人們在春節前將剪紙窗花朝南北向貼在窗戶上。這些剪紙都是幸運的中國紅，圖案誇張絢麗，表達了人們對快樂或對幸福生活的嚮往，正合了春節的喜慶氣氛。

年夜飯

It"s tradition across China to hold a lavish feast to celebrate the New Year. Chinese try very hard to make this family event, often traveling long distances.

除夕準備一頓豐盛的年夜飯是中國人過年的傳統。為了這頓年夜飯，人們常常跋涉千里與家人團聚。

南北方的年夜飯可能有所差異，而且很多新年菜式都有象徵意義。

In Northern China a traditional dish for the feast is jiaozi. They are shaped like old Chinese ingots, symbolizing wealth.

比如在北方，年夜飯上的傳統菜肴是餃子。餃子的形狀很像古代中國的元寶，象徵著財富。

Southern Chinese eat niangao (sticky rice cake) on this special day, because niangao sounds like "yearly higher", symbolizing improvement.

而南方在這個特別的日子裡則會吃年糕，因為「年糕」的發音同「年高」，象徵著節節高升。

大年夜，豐盛的菜肴擺滿一桌，闔家團圓，齊聚一堂，一年的辛苦就在美食和歡聲笑語中淡忘。

People set off firecrackers to celebrate the coming of the New Year, as well as to drive away evil.

中國人用放鞭炮的方式迎來新春、驅除惡鬼。

其實，世界各地的人們都喜歡以絢爛多彩的煙花來迎接新年的到來，但是我們中國人對於鞭炮更加情有獨鍾。

正是這聲聲震耳欲聾的爆竹聲，讓我們感受到濃濃的年味，和對家的眷戀。

On the first day of the lunar New Year, Chinese wish each other good luck and happiness in the New Year. It is customary for the younger generation to visit their elders and wish them health and longevity.

大年初一，中國人互道新禧，晚輩要給長輩拜年，祝他們健康長壽。

People who are unable to visit their friends or relatives send a WeChat red packet or a text message instead of paying a New Year"s call.

如今，忙碌的人們如果無法登門拜年，就會發個微信紅包或簡訊給親朋好友拜年。

The red packet is a red envelope with money in it, which ranges from one to a few thousand Chinese yuan.

紅包是裝著壓歲錢的信封，金額從一塊到幾千不等。（雙語君表示並沒有收到過幾千元的紅包……）

Usually the red packet is given by adults and elderly to young children in New Year days. It was believed money in the red packet would ward off evil spirits and keep children healthy.

過年時，通常是大人和長輩給小朋友們發紅包，用壓歲錢抵禦厄運，保佑孩子健康成長。

Digital red packets have gone viral in recent years, and "grabbing red packets" has become an extremely popular game on WeChat.

這幾年電子紅包越發火爆，「搶紅包」儼然已成了微信上最流行的遊戲。
