今天播音我差點兒遲到。本來出門挺早的，誰知道路上遇到車禍，堵了個水泄不通。原來半個小時的路，我足足開了一個半小時。我一停好車，就向辦公室飛奔，衝進演播室的時候，只剩下三分鐘的時間了。

這倒讓我想起一個可以跟大家交流的習慣用語，叫，like crazy.

在下面這個例子中，一名僱員講述了他們公司最近是如何解決定單的難題的。讓我們一起來聽聽他是怎麼說的。

例句-1：Our factory is expected to ship a new product by tomorrow, but the order isn"t ready yet. That"s why the boss has ordered extra shifts. If we work like crazy, we"ll meet the deadline. But that means there can"t be any slowing down.

這就要看老闆的號召力，或是工人們的幹勁了。不久前，我年邁的祖母不遠萬里，到美國來看我們。我們姐妹幾個人連續三天，沒日沒夜的打掃衛生，準備飯菜。And you cooked like crazy. 最後讓祖母在吃住上都格外滿意。

剛才說到感恩節。感恩節過後的那天，對很多喜歡購物的人來說，恐怕比感恩節更為重要。讓我們聽聽其中的緣由。

例句-2：Have you ever heard of "Black Friday"? It"s the day after Thanksgiving when stores sell electronics at significant discounts. Prices for such items as computers, plasma TVs, and MP3 players can be so low that customers stand in lines for hours, and then shop like crazy. You"ve never seen such excitement!

這個人說：你知道「黑色星期五」嗎？黑色星期五就是感恩節的第二天，商店大降價電器類商品，例如電腦、液晶電視、MP3播放器都降價出售。很多顧客排好幾個小時的隊，瘋狂地購物，從來沒見過這麼狂熱的。

這個習慣用語最早是二十世紀二十年代前後出現的，可以跟like mad通用。你可以說，為了錄音不遲到，I had to run like mad. 為了完成訂單，the employees worked like mad. 黑色星期五那天，the customers shop like mad.
