雞心碗系明永樂、宣德年間流行的碗式之一，存世頗為罕見。因碗底心有雞心樣突起，故曰「雞心碗」。另因器形似蓮子，又名「蓮子碗」。雞心碗見有大中小三種尺寸，常見大小兩種。有白釉刻劃印和青花等裝飾。青花器外壁多飾條形蓮瓣紋，永樂多呈單體細長蓮瓣，宣德多為雙層寬短蓮瓣。清康熙、雍正多有仿製。除了紋飾的不同外，永樂雞心碗相較於宣德者尚有體輕、足矮的特點。此類雞心碗除作貢御之用外，另有一部分被送至近東，伊朗阿德比爾神廟亦見有此類瓷碗。

建窯柿紅如何形成
宋代建盞的柿紅釉，也是一種「中國紅」。柿紅，顧名思義就是柿子成熟時呈現的紅色。建窯柿紅釉的原材料，和建窯黑釉是一樣的，之所以同樣的胎和釉，會燒出有別於建盞主流產品的色調，是因為溫度、氣氛的關係。

柿紅的形成過程
一般黑釉--生燒品(灰背，龜裂紋等)---短兔毫---長兔毫---柿紅釉
研究和標本都表明，柿紅的形成，在黑釉燒出、兔毫形成之後。故而呈柿紅色的是表面一層，敲到裡層後，還是黑釉。由於工藝上的形成原理是先黑後紅。
也就導致柿紅釉的外觀常會在細節處「紅中帶黑」。柿紅釉真正呈色的，其實只有表面極薄的一層，釉內也依然是黑色，本質上，柿紅釉還是建窯的黑釉。
這也正是建窯的魅力所在，完全一樣的配方之下，由於窯溫、窯內氣氛的少許變化，就幻化出烏金黑釉、兔毫、油滴、曜變，乃至柿紅釉、黑褐釉、醬釉等等。
