超現實主義（surrealism）誕生於第一次世界大戰後，盛行於1920-1930期間的歐洲文藝界。

Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for its visual artworks and writings.

由法國作家Andre Breton （布列頓）發起。在巴黎先後發表兩次《超現實主義宣言》，形成了超現實主義畫派。認為「下意識的領域」，如夢境、幻覺、本能等是創作的源泉，主張從潛意識的思想實際中求得「超現實」。作品主要描寫潛意識領域的矛盾現象，把生與死、過去與未來、真實與幻覺統一起來，具有恐怖、離奇、怪誕的特點。

Artists painted unnerving, illogical scenes with photographic precision, created strange creatures from everyday objects, and developed painting techniques that allowed the unconscious to express itself. Its aim was to "resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality into an absolute reality, a super-reality"

安德烈·布列頓Andre Breton

安德烈·布列頓1896年2月18日- 1966年9月28日，法國作家、詩人和反法西斯主義者。他是超現實主義的創始人。他的作品包括1924年的第一個超現實主義宣言，他將超現實主義定義為「純粹的心靈自動主義」。

André Breton 18 February 1896 – 28 September 1966) was a French writer, poet, and anti-fascist. He is known best as the founder of Surrealism. His writings include the first Surrealist Manifesto (Manifeste du surréalisme) of 1924, in which he defined surrealism as "pure psychic automatism".

在我很小的時候，我就表現出對藝術的熱情，尤其是書中的插畫。中學後我參加了科爾切斯特藝術與設計學院，我專註與使用各種媒介來提升我的作品，後來我跟從20年代由布列頓發起的超現實主義的運動，提升、磨鍊了自己的藝術水平，並創造了超現實的風景畫。

Since an early age I′ve shown an enthusiasm when it comes to art, specifically book illustration.

After secondary school I attended the Colchester Institute of Art and Design where I focused on how to develop my work using various mediums, though towards the end of my progress I honed in on fine art and created surreal landscapes inspired both from my upbringing and artists from the surrealistic movement founded by Andre Breton in the 20s.

我在英國的埃塞克斯海岸外的默西島長大，發現那裡的風景對我作為一個藝術家有著巨大的影響。蜿蜒的鄉村道路，月光下的天空，樹木在前景上投下清晰的陰影，洶湧的潮水衝進懸崖，很快成為我工作的一個重要方面。

大學畢業後，我進入英國朴茨茅斯大學，主修插圖。在那裡，我學會了擴展自己的技能，並開發出一種技術，可以讓我成為一名真正的插畫家。我主要從事筆墨、粉筆、炭筆、鉛筆等工作，在搬到中國後，根據大連、大慶、滄州、青島、寧波等地的一些風景，創作了超現實主義作品。自從來到這裡，我還寫了一本兒童讀物，名為《超越山林》，我希望在今年晚些時候出版。

我對音樂也很趕興趣，是一個自學成才的鼓手。我演奏古典搖滾樂，爵士樂和拉丁美洲的桑巴舞。我希望在老外灘的每一個人都能喜歡我的作品，並給你一個魔法般的世界。

I grew up in Mersea, an island off the coast of Essex, England, and found that the scenery alone had a huge influence on me as an artist. Winding country roads, moonlit skies, trees casting crisp shadows over the foreground, and high tides crashing into the cliffs soon became an essential aspect of my work.

After college I enrolled at the University of Portsmouth and studied illustration.

There I learnt to expand my skills and develop a technique which would give me an identity as an illustrator.

I work mainly in pen & ink, chalk & charcoal, and pencil, and after moving to China I developed surreal works based on some of the scenery in places such as Dalian, Daqing, Cangzhou, Qingdao and Ningbo. Since being here I』ve also written and illustrated a children』s book titled 「Beyond the Mountains, A Place Lost in Time,」 which I hope to launch later this year.

I also have an interest in music and am a self taught drummer. I play classic rock, jazz and Latin American samba.
