這個昆蟲主要產於東南亞的馬來西亞的熱帶雨林區，很多不同種類的蘭花都會生長著各種的蘭花螳螂，它們有最完美的偽裝，而且能隨著花色的深淺調整自己身體的顏色，有的長得像粉色淡雅的蘭花，也有從粉色到紫色的變化，大多數蘭花螳螂都是白色的。蘭花螳螂應該算是螳螂目中最漂亮搶眼的一種了，它們的步肢演化出類似花瓣的構造和顏色，四條行走的腿像極了花瓣，可以在蘭花中擬態而不會被獵物察覺，最適合螳螂守株待兔的掠食方式，也算是最高明的掠食者之一。

The four walking legs are like a petal. They can be mimicry in orchids and not detected by the prey. It is the most suitable predatory way of the mantis and one of the most brilliant predators.
