修行人要念死無常。死亡，是每個人都要面對的結局。念死並不是怕死，怕死終究也難逃一死。念死不是悲觀厭世，而是鼓勵我們要更加精進地修行佛法。念死無常，目的是要我們斷除對現世五欲六塵的貪愛，利用稀有難得的人身，做世上最有意義的事——圓成佛道，普度眾生。

Practitioners should contemplate impermanence of death

Death, everyone has to encounter at the end of life. Death should be contemplated not because one is afraid of death, but even though one is afraid of death, he or she cannot escape from death. Thinking of death is not pessimistic and world-weary but encouraging us to more unremittingly practice the teachings of the Buddha. Thinking of impermanence (anitya)of death aims to eliminate our cravings for these worldly five desires (pa?ca-kāmā?) and six sense objects, and utilizes the hard to come by in the body of humans to fulfill the most meaningful work in the world - attaining the path to the Buddhahood for the benefits of all sentient beings.
