如何對待不好的念頭

How to deal with bad thoughts

弟子問:

在我們日常當中經常會有一些不好的念頭升起,自己一直也在修法,發現還有這麼多不好的念頭出來,心裡覺得挺煩惱的,請上師開示。

Disciple asks:

In our daily life, we often have bad ideas rising in our head. Even while we are practising Dharma, I found that the bad thoughts will still pop up, making me feel a bit upset. Please show us your teachings Guru (Xian Pei).

上師答:

你有很多念頭是很正常,發現有些念頭是不好的,你發現了,說明你在看,你在這裡對這個念頭有了觀察,所以才會發現念頭裡面有各種各樣的、這樣那樣的問題,這種呢,我覺得也不用煩惱,這個應該是一個進步的變化吧,因為我們平常一般不會觀察自己的念頭,自己在想什麼?是善的意圖還是惡的意圖?一般不會這樣特別的針對它觀察,這種觀察的狀態,是有修行的概念的。

Guru replied:

Having many thoughts is normal. Discovering some ideas are evil means that you are looking, you are observing those ideas. This is why you can spot a variety of problems and issues. As for those problems, I don"t think it is something to be upset. This should be an improvement because we don"t usually observe our ideas and thoughts and what we are thinking of or even consider if it is evil or good. Often, we do not aim at and analyse our ideas, and this habit contains the concept of practising Dharma.

所以,在我們升起不好的念頭的時候,不用刻意對它產生煩惱,不過可以稍有一些針對的方法,比如說,生起一個不好的念頭的時候,針對這個念頭、對治它的方法,可以是一種善的念頭或者一種善的想法,時間長了,你的善念會慢慢增長、惡念會慢慢地減少,那麼你的修行就會有一定的成長和進步了。

So, when we have evil thoughts rising in our head, we should not deliberately feel troubled. We could find some ways to target it. For example, when an evil thought popped up, target it and find a solution to it. This will be a kind thought, and as time progress, your kind thought will grow, and evil thoughts, then your path of practising Dharma will improve.
