Ifyou can keep your head when all about you

如果，在眾人失去理智歸咎與你時

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

你依然能鎮定自若

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you

如果，在所有人猜忌你時

But make allowance for their doubting too,

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don"t deal in lies,

And yet don"t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream -- and not make dreams your master,

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

今天的詩，來自於拉迪亞德·吉卜林

他出生於印度孟買

6歲時返回英國

17歲又回到印度

之後在多個國家旅居。

吉卜林是英國第一位諾貝爾文學獎獲得者

也是至今最為年輕的文學獎獲得者

他的作品簡潔凝練，充滿異國情調

被馬克吐溫盛讚為「永遠不會蒼白的文字」

《如果》這首詩是吉卜林

寫給自己即將奔赴一戰戰場的兒子的勵志詩

他說：

」孩子 如果你能夠坦然面對勝利和災難

如果你面臨失去

決心從頭再來而絕口不提自己的損失

……

如果你能惜時如金

利用每一分鐘不可追回的光陰

你的修為就會如天地般博大

並擁有了屬於自己的世界「

這首詩被譯成了27國語言

激勵了無數青少年

然而它卻沒能在戰爭中保佑吉卜林的兒子。

吉卜林為了送視力不佳的兒子上戰場

做了大量努力

他無論如何也想不到

戰爭給他帶來的，卻是一生都無法恢復的創傷。

《如果》意味著選擇的力量

在任何時候

選擇愛，而非恨

選擇相信，而非恐懼

選擇努力，而非放棄

這就是最美好的「如果」了。
