「糾結」該用英語怎麼說？別糾結了，看過來……

「糾結」這個詞在現今這個高速發展的社會被人們使用的頻率非常地高，再加之有不少學生問本人「糾結」用英語怎麼說，因此今天來討論一下。

《現代漢語詞典》第6版對「糾結」一詞的解釋如下：

釋義1和2我們在日常生活中不怎麼用，釋義3經常使用：思緒紛亂，心情煩悶。其實「糾結」還有另一個意思，那就是「處於面臨兩難的選擇而不好做決定的狀態」。

一、糾結：思緒紛亂，心情煩悶。這個意思可以翻譯為

upset; annoyed; irritated

這三個單詞意思差不多，但要注意upset已經是形容詞（或者理解為過去分詞）形式，不能自作聰明地把它寫成upsetted，這樣是錯誤的。

【例】Don"t getupsetabout the dress - there"s only a little stain on it. 不要再糾結連衣裙的事了，其實也就弄髒了一點。

二、糾結：處於面臨兩難的選擇而不好做決定的狀態。這個意思可以有以下三種翻譯方法

1. be torn between...and...

torn是tear（撕；扯）的過去分詞，糾結也就是扯來扯去扯不清楚，因此torn在這裡還是比較形象的。Collins COBUILD Advanced Learner"s Dictionary 5th Edition對be torn between...and...的解釋是：If you are torn between two or more things, you cannot decide which to choose, and so you feel anxious or troubled

【例】Robb istorn betweenbecoming a doctoranda career in athletics. 羅布很糾結，因為他不知道該當醫生還是該當運動員。

2. be of two minds about

mind的意思是「想法；看法」，be of two minds about也就是對某事心中有兩種想法，拿不定主意，因此可以理解為「糾結」。MacMillan English Dictionary - American對be of two minds about的解釋是：to not be certain about something, or to have difficulty in making a decision

【例】I"mof two minds aboutaccepting the job. 對於是否該接受這份工作，我很糾結。

3. face the dilemma of

dilemma這個詞很容易拼錯，所以一定要注意：di-le-mma，有兩個m。Cambridge Advanced Learner"s Dictionary對dilemma的解釋是：a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two different things you could do

【例】Shefaces the dilemma ofdisobeying her father or losing the man she loves. 她要麼會違背父親的意願，要麼會失去她所愛的男人，對此她很糾結。
