昨天全家飛香港。

雖然這裡不是萬里無雲，但比起最高溫度在零下的北京，我們仍然感到溫暖宜人。來之前，聽常住香港的朋友說，這裡是病毒肆虐，提醒我們注意保暖。

我已經25年沒有來過香港了，當時大兒子傑米還沒出生。香港的變化是從里至外的。

我們全家這次來港，並不是為了旅行，也不是為了感慨香港回歸之後的變化。這次專程應邀在皇家（香港）地理學會展播紀錄片《鳥瞰萬里長城》。該片是傑米和湯米用無人機航拍和剪輯製作的有關長城的紀錄片，它實現了爸爸威廉鳥瞰中國長城的夢想。

William Lindesay, the foremost expert on the Great Wall of China, introduces the film The Great Wall: The Greatest Views, which was produced by his sons James and Thomas Lindesay. William, who has been a regular RGS guest speaker for three decades, is accompanied by his sons to introduce the film and share some behind the scenes recollections with the audience.

中國長城方面的領銜學者威廉.林賽前來推介紀錄片《The Great Wall: The Greatest Views》（鳥瞰萬里長城）。該片由他的兩個兒子傑米.林賽和湯米.林賽合作拍攝,剪輯製作。近三十年來，威廉是皇家（香港）地理學會的演講常客。此次，專程由兩個兒子陪同前來推介影片，與觀眾分享鏡頭背後的故事。

「William Lindesay has a knack for approaching the Great Wall of China in ways that are creative, idiosyncratic and deeply personal」, wrote author Peter Hessler. The medium of film thus introduces yet another completely new way of seeing and understanding the Great Wall — appreciating its many different shapes, forms, ages, conditions and landscapes from the air.

Mr Lindesay speaks on how the film project fulfilled his dream of seeing the Wall from the air. The filming, which began in the summer of 2016, celebrates two occasions: Mr Lindesay』s 60th birthday, with 30 of those years spent in China working on the Great Wall. It was a dream delivered by his tech-savvy sons, who graduated from conventional photography and videography to drone filming for making of this film. This allowed for uniquely beautiful air footage of the Wall.

林賽先生將講述如何用航拍的方式，圓了他鳥瞰長城的夢想。2016年的航拍行程給予兩個緣由：林賽先生的60歲生日和來華探索長城30年紀念。這個夢想的實現離不開兩個兒子具有的普通攝影技巧和視頻製作的基礎，這些航拍素材讓我們看到了長城獨特的美。

Their footage is set to be released by broadcasters in many countries from the UK to China. The RGS is delighted to show a 『Director』s Cut』 of the film before its official release.

William Lindesay,OBE, is an honorary senior research fellow at Liverpool University, where he studied geography and geology in the 1970s. Recently he received the Royal Society for Asian Affairs』 Special Award 2016.

威廉.林賽是大英帝國勳章的獲得者，是英國利物浦大學名譽高級研究員。他在上世紀70年代曾在該大學學習地理和地質。2016年他獲得英國皇家（亞洲）協會頒發的「亞洲傑出人物」獎狀。

He first went to China to trece the Great Wall in 1986, making the first documented traverse of the ruins on foot the following year, in 1987, in which he covered 2,470 km. Since 1990, he has resided permanently in China, spending more than 2,800 days on its Great Wall. He has written five books on the subject, published by Harvard University Press and Penguin among others, and fronted documentaries that have been screened on National Geographic Channel, Channel 4, Discovery Channel and the Smithsonian Channel.

林賽先生首次來華徒步長城是在1986年。1987年他成功徒步明長城2470公里。自1990年以來，他長住中國，撰寫有五本與長城相關的書籍，並且經由哈佛大學出版社和企鵝出版社等出版社出版。威廉還作為主持人和主要被採訪者出鏡於美國國家地理頻道、英國4頻道、探索發現頻道和史密森頻道。

James Lindesayis a graduate of history from Peking University, while Thomas Lindesayis an undergraduate there, studying International Relations.

傑米.林賽畢業於北京大學歷史系，湯米.林賽正在北京大學國際關係學院學習。
