situated in a mid-block property in mexico city, profiles by belzberg architects is a six-story commercial office building clad in a dynamic perforated carbon-steel facade. designed to increase visibility of the structure from a variety of perspectives and create a memorable experience for occupants and passersby, the outer skin features a variety of apertures that are optimized for ventilation and light.

belzberg architects has pulled back the long, narrow structure from its three-story neighbor, making its sides visible and transforming it into a south-facing corner lot. the building』s facades are wrapped in perforated carbon-steel with electrostatic paint, which enhances the connection between them and maintains privacy and visibility for occupants through the variable punctures. 『an additional pattern of flaps attached to select punctures create the appearance of curved vertical lines mimicking a curtain being gathered to reveal beyond,』 notes the studio. 『our appropriation of the southern facade of profiles has demonstrated distinct design opportunities and furthers the new architectural language our team is developing for the cuauhtemoc neighborhood of mexico city.』
